Two of our JET Service clients, Jason and Shahib spent two weeks in the City at the Financial Times, on a work experience programme.
Supported by the Jacqui Dobson, Diversity & Inclusion Partner at the FT this placement allowed both of our interns the opportunity to get a feel for life in the City; travelling to and from work independently, planning their day and getting an idea of what life is like in a fast paced office. They were taught about social media management, the importance of first impressions, diary management and drawing up their own vision boards. During this time they were also able to meet and interview different departments in the Financial Times Head Office, including the Marketing, Customer Care and Facilities Team.
At the end of the two weeks, Jason and Shahib did a Powerpoint presentation to summarise what they had learnt during their time at the FT and what they hope to achieve in the future.
Jason is on the JET Supported Internship Program and Shahib completed the LBTH pre-apprenticeship program last year at Idea Store Canary Wharf. Shahib is now going to start paid part time work as an Admin Assistant at Toynbee Hall, through the Change London Scheme next month.
