On the 15th June, the Tower Projects JET service held its annual Job Information Day.

The event provided important opportunities for over 270 people with Learning Difficulties and Autism to find out potential career paths, engage with employers and learn about the skills, qualities, training and qualifications needed to work in a wide range of job roles.

Over 40 organisations joined us at the Ecology Pavilion in Mile End Park, including; Sainsbury’s, The Body Shop, Met Police, Queen Mary University and West Ham Football Club.

The attendees that visited the stalls of the Youth Hostel Association, The Royal Foundation of St Katherine, One by Me and Genesis Cinema were met by JET clients who relayed first-hand information about their journey into work.

Service Manager, Graham Smithers,  was thrilled with the turnout “This is an event that we started six years ago as a response to young people with learning disabilities telling us they were being overlooked at mainstream Job Fairs. We decided to set up a more accessible Job Fair focussed on people with learning disabilities, and six years later the event has developed from a handful of employers in a small classroom to the biggest event of its kind in London.”
